Christmas wishes

We asked staff and students about their Christmas wish lists and holiday plans. We were delighted and surprised by the range and depth of their answers: from a subscription to The Economist to a ticket to Handel’s Messiah for Easter. Whatever’s on your Christmas list, we at Student Y wishes everyone a peaceful and blessed Christmas under blue African skies.

John wants a subscription to The Economist

John (staff worker, CPUT): A subscription to The Economist magazine. Travel to the USA or to go hiking from Kloof Nek to Muizenburg with students. And I want to run the two oceans half marathon!

Wanele Mhlanti (staff worker, CPUT): I would love to get the board game: 30 seconds. It is a great way to have fun with a group of people and get to know people. I look forward to going home to Margate in KwaZulu-Natal and seeing my family. I would also love to go and see the Sharks rugby team practicing at the Shark Tank. Next year I want to move to Woodstock and get an accounting job in Cape Town so that I can stay involved in my local community and the Y.

Coby McGinty (staff worker, UCT): A complete book set of Francis Schaeffer’s writings.

Hillary is going to enjoy time with her family.

Hilary Mushambi (staff spouse, UCT): A good quality camera with multiple lenses and a photography course or cake decorating course and additional baking equipment for my kitchen. To rest, enjoy time with my family and think seriously about family holiday traditions.

Darrel Johnathan (staff worker, CPUT): I would like to get the computer game Need for Speed because I love racing games. I am looking forward to spending more meaningful time with my fiance in Cape Town. I wish for a ministry job in Johannesburg next year. The one thing I would love to do is a day of horse riding at Diemersfontein wine farm in Wellington.

Rob would like more Christian influence in management at CPUT.

Rob Walker (Campus Director, CPUT): A Camelbak hydration pack for hiking and running – I love my hiking and running! Spend good time with Family in Port Elizabeth at the beach and around the house and do some running and cycling. I pray that our Lord would give us a real breakthrough with management next year. I would love to have more of a Christian influence in the CPUT structures at a management level in 2014. I also pray for a really committed student leadership team.

Pamela McGinty (Staff Spouse, UCT): A new Canon camera lens to replace the one I damaged falling partially through a floor trying to get “the perfect shot” at Kolmanskop, Namibia!

Fritz van der Lecq (Campus Director, UCT): Bucket loads of energy and productivity to complete at least two dissertation chapters! And maybe a more comfortable study chair to save my back!!

Robin Ho (staff worker, UCT): To get fit ;) and some R & R.

Darlington hopes to go to Victoria Falls.

Darlington Mushambi (staff worker, UCT): A DVD box set of Akira Kurosawa’s movies. I might be going to Zim and possibly Victoria Falls, or having family over here for Christmas.

Faye Mathews (staff worker, UCT): Rest, an awesome place to live in Jo’burg, furniture. But in truth, I think we have everything we really need.

Trevor Nicholas (staff worker, UCT): Simply  that  God  will  keep  me and  my family  healthy  and  that  we  will  remember Him this Christmas. I pray that He will provide the means for everyone to celebrate and enjoy their time with their families. I  will  be  painting  the  house,  catching  up  with  garden work and  then  visiting  family  up  in  Jo’burg.

The Kuttner family

The Kuttner family

Lance Kuttner (staff worker, CPUT): A ticket to Handel’s Messiah for Easter and to stay far away from the skateboard park!
