Hi, I’m Alick and I’m from bright sunny-side-up Zimbabwe! I’m in my final year of undergrad Architecture and I love swimming, doodling and sharing and learning about Jesus. The Student Y is a great place to learn about God and meet some fantastic people, so I’m honoured to be serving a second term on the committee. This year I’ll be chairing the committee and managing HUB, our awesome Friday night fellowship. Fun times ahead, no doubt. I hope to meet you there.

Hi. I’m a twenty year old Rwandan-South African. I call myself that because by birth I’m Rwandan but I grew up in SA. I am a big sister, friend, cousin and third year Mechatronic Engineering student. I love running, the outdoors and how God’s grace is visible in every aspect of my life.

Hi my name’s Jack! I’m working towards a Bachelor’s in Social Science and my majors are Anthropology and EGS (Environmental and Geographical Science). I was introduced to the Student Y by some friends during my first year in 2010. While at first I felt a little awkward and nervous being there I now consider the Y, its staff and student membership, to be much like my family on campus. I have developed strong friendships with many people there and am so grateful for the part they have played in my l life. This year I’m serving on the committee, organizing the worship as well as other events through the year. I am incredibly excited to see what God will do in young people’s lives through the Student Y in 2014! If I’m not in a lecture or having coffee at the Y you’ll probably find me surfing or hiking in the mountains somewhere.

I am Vincent, a 3rd year Electrical Engineering student. I came to the Y in my first year (2012) as part of their residence bible study and now I am part of the committee. I am the secretary and I am also responsible for Orfun and I am a part of the Good News Magazine team. I am blessed to be part of such a wonderful Christ-centered community that has helped me a lot in my spiritual growth. I am honoured to be serving the students and the UCT community and I hope to continue serving with the life skills I have gained (and still gaining) even after my studies. I enjoy spending time with friends playing fun games and joking around or reading the Bible.

Hello there. I am a 3rd year philosophy and history student. I hail from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (a land sometimes associated with commodities such as milk and honey) but absolutely love studying in the beautiful city of Cape Town. My role on the Y comm is to co-ordinate the organization of our O-week program and to be a liaison between the The Good News Magazine team and the comm, as well as to play a role in the editing and distribution of the mag. The Good News Magazine (by the way) is a free, on campus Christian magazine produced by the Student Y that looks to engage all students of all backgrounds with the good news of Jesus Christ. Swing by the Y, say hi, and I’ll bake you a pie. (Ok I might not bake you a pie. I just said that because it rhymed, but I will definitely do something nice for you if you pay us a visit.)
